What Chicory actually treats
Chicory is Bach's remedy for the love that demands. The mother who gives endlessly and expects to be the center. The friend who keeps score. The partner whose affection comes with implicit invoice. Bach saw the Chicory state as love distorted by need — the giver gives, but the gift is hooked. The remedy is not the loss of caring; it is the restoration of clean love, given freely, without the binding. The other is allowed to be other rather than to be possession.
The state it meets
Possessive, conditional love. Gives much, expects reciprocation. Keeps score. Hurt easily by perceived neglect. "After all I have done for you." Love offered with strings.
The shift it brings
Love given freely. Care without contract. The other is allowed to be themselves rather than to fulfill an unspoken role. Giving becomes nourishing rather than depleting because it is not transactional.

Chicory in love is the partner whose every kindness becomes a future debt collected. The work is to give without invoice, even once — and notice what changes in the quality of the giving itself.
In work
Chicory in work is the leader who has done a lot for the team and now demands loyalty in return. The remedy supports the move from "after all I did" to "I did it because I chose to; they owe nothing."
